The 17th EIU Photo Class Held in the Chiang Mai, Thailand
The 17th EIU Photo Class held in Chiang Mai, Thailand from 13 to 19 October 2019. The event was co-organized by APCEIU, Thai National Commission for UNESCO and Chiang Mai Provincial Education Office. This year’s participants of the EIU Photo Class included 17 Thai students and 13 Korean students, together with Korean and Thai professional photographers.
This year’s theme is “Harmonious Life with Cultural Diversity, Thailand”. Under the instruction of professional photographers, participants learned how to express their thoughts, shed new light on their surroundings. The participants explored the most representative historical sites in Chiang Mai such as Wat Suan Dok temple, BaanTawai village, Doi Pui Hmong tribal village, Doi Suthep temple, Bo Sang umbrella village and Chiang Mai City Arts and Cultural Centre. The participating students had memorable experiences in various programmes such as Global Citizenship Education (GCED) & photo workshops, Cross-Cultural Awareness Programme.
As a grand finale of the programme, the photos taken by students and photographers were exhibited at Chiang Mai University Art Center, Chiang Mai. The guests Mr. Hyun Mook LIM, Director of APCEIU; Ms. Duriya AMATAVIVAT, Secretary-General of Thai National Commission for UNESCO; and Mr. Kitanet PUNPANUCHAT, Director of Provincial Education Office appreciated the photos which represented the diversity and peacefulness of Chiang Mai.
The EIU Photo Class provides opportunities for students from all around the world to learn EIU and GCED through the art of photography. Since its inception in the Philippines in 2006, APCEIU has captured various forms of life from many different places around the world such as Bhutan, Republic of Palau, Laos, Bangladesh, Iran, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Tonga, Indonesia, Turkey, Russia, Cambodia, Mongolia and Vietnam.
