The consultation meeting took place at UNESCO Headquarters on 21-22 March, and international experts in education and in the field of prevention of violent extremism around the world gathered to share experiences and advise to develop the technical guidance on PVE-E.

The meeting highlighted the role and responsibilities of the educator sector on the topic of prevention of violent extremism, by providing realistic and pragmatic guidelines to policy-makers. To be addressed in the guide, critical issues, such as specific responsibilities of teachers, key skills and competencies that can prevent violent extremism and effective ways that educational stakeholders and other sectors of society can participate in prevention, were discussed.

This technical guide will be used as a policy tool in the education sectors based on world contexts, and the first draft will be finalized during the Global Meeting on PVE-E, which will be held in September 2016.
